yung j's sample chapter

Sample Chapter
by: Justin Quarles

In this story, there is a boy named Joey Pigza. He's not just a good kid he's a great kid. But he's a boy who can't sit still in class, also he can never pay attention, he can't follow the rules, and he can't help it-especially when his meds are not working. Joey's had problems ever since he was born, problems just like his dad and his grandma have. And wether he's wreaking havoc on a class trip or swallowing his house key, Joey's problems are getting worse. In fact, his behavior is so off the wall that his teachers are threatening to send him to the special-ed center downtown. Joey knows he's a really good kid, but no matter how hard he tries to do the right thing, something always seems to go wrong. Joey can never be a normal kid because some people might think he might be retarted or mental. This is just how Joey is because like I said his granmother was born wired, so was his father Carter Pigza and Joey followed right behind them. It's like if our family tree like Joey would say '' My family tree looks like a set of high-voltage wires strung across a field from one steel tower to the next''. Joey's grandma all the time saqid that Joey was just like his dad, ''bouncing of the walls twenty-four hours a day''. But Joey is sad because he never got the chance to see his own father because Joey's dad didn't want him to be just like him but it turns out that he did. But, I can tell that Joey's mom wasn't a big fan of Joey's dad. Joey's mom thinks that Joey seeing his father would be a bad idea because when Joey's father left him, his mom thought that he was drunk and he wouldn't stop bouncing off the walls or stop drinking. Joey is so eager to see his father but like grandma said, ''He hasn't bounced in our direction so I guess he still is bouncing around somewhere else. But I know someday he might spring back and just bounce right through the front door. Joey said, '' I wish he would because I only just hear about him now, and I'd like to see for myself what he is like. His mom knows that he wnats to see his father but even though he misses him alot, his mom want shim to stop talking about him so she can forget about all the bad memories that they use to have together. She only wants to focus on Joey and his problems. Anyways Joey can also be a handful. Sometimes Joey wonders how he can be a pain and almost all of the time he's not even in that classroom. He's mostly in the principal's office, the nurses office, helping in the library, helping in the cafeteria, or running laps in the play ground. The first year at his school, the year was no different. When he started out all the days there looked the same. Sometimes, in the morning his meds were working fine because, in the morning he would follow along in class but after lunch in the afternoon, his meds had worn down and Joey knew that it was trouble for him. One day in class his classmates and him were doing math drills and every time Mrs. Maxy asked a question, Joey would raise his hand because he's quick at math but, each time she called on him, even though he knew the answer, he would just blurt out, ''Can I get back to you on that'', then he wuld fall out of his chair laughing. So mostly, Joey's whole back story begins in school where he is feeling all types of emotions. Joey maybe, a kid who doesn't listen well, bounces of the walls and maybe gets in trouble alot in school, but like the book says, Joey's not just a good kid, he's a great kid. But like I said before, no matter how hard he tries to have friends or fit in, something always seems to go wrong. So that's the whole backstory of Joey Pigza.
